Most people find themselves giving thanks for the blessings, and happiness of family and friends. However, there are some very important but not so easy things to be thankful for.
First, we use Jesus’s example Luke 22: 17-20 – Jesus gave thanks for the suffering He will do on the cross. Heb 12:2 – Jesus counted the cross as a joy even though He had to endure the pain, suffering, and humiliation.
Consider these things unpopular things to thankful for.
Psalm 119:71 NIV It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. Many truths of God cannot be learned by reading or hearing but by experience. Faith, patience, trust do not develop in the easy fun time of life but the difficult and painful times.
In the tough times, God is at work IN YOU.
It is the tough times that produce qualities
that cannot be gained in easy times.
James 1:2-4 “2 Consider it (not actual feelings but you accept it as) pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Persecution for your faith is not easy, but with God’s presence, you will find His peace.
Philippians 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Learning to have faith in God’s power and trusting Him in all situations.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
When you don’t have an answer. Wait and trust in the Lord.
In my life I did not know what to do in a situation for four months…then God began to put the answers together. Trust Him.
My newest favorite verse!
John 13:7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
