Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
Psalm 15:1-5 NIV
Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? [2] The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; [3] whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; [4] who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; [5] who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
When reading this chapter there seems to be a lot one must do or be in order to dwell with God in His presence. But after reading it through a few times, my conclusion is no man can do the things required in verses 2-5 by themselves. They need God’s presence and power to become a righteous and kind person.
verses 2-5 are depended on verse 1
So I believe the actions of verses 2-5 are depended on verse 1. It is God’s presence and the desire to live on His foundation that enables one to live as required. Prayer and Bible study will place you in the tent on God’s mountain and give you lightnside.
So where do you live? What is your foundation you base life and instruction on? Where do you dwell in quiet times? Make it Psalms 15:1 and the final sentence will be you “Whoever does these things will never be shaken“.
