Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
My wife and I love to drive around our town and see the Christmas lights set up to celebrate the Christmas season. Even though many lights are not promoting a Christian theme, there is something about a light in the darkness. I do want to celebrate those families who do place a Christian theme with their lights. Today in my blog, I want to focus on the scriptures that have the word “light” in it. As you read these scriptures, take them as lights in your heart as you go to work and school in the darkness of today. Allow these verses of “light” to illuminate your faith, hope, and the wonder of Christ in a dark world.
Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.
Psalms 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 43:3-4
Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
Psalms 119:130
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
Luke 2:25-32
Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”
John 1:4
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
John 12:36
Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Revelation 22:5
There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.
Let your lightnside shine the power and truth of Christ outward for all the world to see.
