Romans 1:13-15 Harvest desire

I might have a harvest among you
Romans 1:13-15 NIV

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. [14] I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. [15] That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

The word “harvest” jumped out to me.  A harvest is more city wide than a spiritual gift to one church. It is a revival atmosphere attracting lost souls to the Good News of Christ.

This reminds me of Mark 1:1-5  The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, [2] as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:  “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”— [3] “a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ ” [4] And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. [5] The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

This was a  harvest time when people outside the limits of the church began gathering to hear John preach.  What attracted the people? Two things, (1) first the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit and (2) changed lives.  People saw the evidence of the power of Christ’s blood through Faith.

In Rome, Paul was burdened with two things.  The maturity and spiritual growth of the church, and the harvest, revival of the city.  This passage in Romans is similar to Christ’s statement in Matthew 9:35-38 (NIV):

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. [38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

We need a revival harvest atmosphere in our cities.  In our schools, jobs, and even our tweets! To the educated, non-educated.  The our failure culture and those different than us.  We need a harvest move of GOD and people will be drawn to hear with their ears and awaken Faith in their SPIRIT.  Lord put your revival spirit in America before you come back! In our cities place your lightnside.
