Psalms 51:11b step 4 Holy Spirit in me

Psalms 51:11b “don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.”

Who is the Holy Spirit?

To many, the Holy Spirit is like a smaller or lesser God than God the Father and Jesus, The Son of God. However, the Holy Spirit is equal in importance and power to the other members of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is so powerful and has so many benefits that the enemy of our soul does all he can to discourage people from focusing on who the Holy Spirit is and how He can impact your life.

The Holy Spirit was in the creation of the world. God spoke, and the Holy Spirit hovered over the waters in creation mode (Genesis 1.) The Holy Spirit empowered prophets and kings in the Old Testament.

Holy Spirit in action

As Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River in the New Testament, the Holy Spirit came and remained in Him. He was the first that the Holy Spirit remained…but Jesus is not the last. Oh, no, After Jesus died on the cross, He resurrected and told the disciples and other followers to go to the upper room and pray until God sent the Holy Spirit to them. And it happened; the Holy Spirit came in power and transformed each person. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, incredible miracles and church growth took place. More and more people received the Holy Spirit, and the mighty anointed church of God, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, grew, and now all the world knows about Christ.

Jesus has a few things to say about the Holy Spirit in John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.”

John 16:13-15 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’

Acts 1:18  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

While David did not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, he at times was anointed by the Holy Spirit to fight bears, lions, and giants and to lead the nation of Israel.

A must-read book about the Holy Spirit
