Psalms 51:11a  Realignment Step 3 – God’s Presence

Psalms 51:11a “Do not cast me from Your presence.”

God’s Presence

Oh, the wonder of the presence of God. There is nothing like it on this earth. David needed a new heart and a restored spirit for himself. But the reason he desired them the most is the following two parts of realignment with God. With a new heart and refreshed spirit, God will come down to us, and His presence will cover us. God will not stay where the heart is full of pride, anger, unforgiveness, and other sins. God will not remain where emotions and our spirits seek the world’s pleasures.

Without God, there is an emptiness that cannot be filled with anything on the earth or our efforts. There is in all of us a desire to reach something out of our grasp, something only God can bring…His presence in us.

Moses and Teen Challenge

Exodus 33:14-15   The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

As an Adult & Teen Challenge student spends a year at one of our centers, they learn a lot of Bible verses and life skills. The mentoring and counsel of professionals and staff are wonderful. But the greatest gift a student can take with them as they leave the center is the Presence of God in their lives.

Psalms 91 summarizes the benefits of living with God’s presence in your life.

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Do you have God’s Presence in you?

Moses knew even though God saved Israel out of bondage and was instructing them on how they should live, he needed the Holy, Almighty, Glorious, Presence of God to make salvation and truth alive in a daily walk.

Do you feel something is missing in your life? Chances are you are seeking something only God can bring. Follow the steps of David as he asks for a new heart through repentance and honesty to God. Ask God to restore your spirit and emotions. Then ask God for His presence over you. Spend time in the morning away from any electronic screens and talk to God. Rest in His presence. Practice this each day.

God’s presence is a guiding lightnside.
